NYE 2009: Our 3rd Annual Grandpa Mohawk Posse Escapade

December 30, 2009 - January 2, 2010

Back in 2007, we had sworn we would never be caught dead in Disney for New Year's. It's cold, crowded and costs way too many of our precious Disney Vacation Club points. But then some fellow members whispered to us how much fun could be had IF you knew how to do it right.

On a whim we invited my cousin along for his first ever Disney trip. He loved it and so did we. So now we're back for our 3rd Annual Grandpa Mohawk Escapade. We can't imagine ever just sitting home ringing in the new year by watching TV again.

You may follow the adventure day by day or skip ahead to the pertinent parts.

Day One: Broken into Part 1, where we describe this year's trials & tribulations getting down to Disney. It never seems to run completely smooth, but at least we get to catch up with our Saratoga Springs friends.

Day One: Part 2 takes place on December 30th for our annual visit to Magic Kingdom. This year we added some table service restaurant meals to our regular "arrive at the park for night and stay for late late Extra Magic Hours". We're at Crystal Palace (for Cuz's first ever character meal), watching (and videotaping) midnight NYE fireworks, and wandering inside our own personal life-size train garden (aka Main Street) until 3am.

Day Two: is the last official day of 2009, time for the pool, hanging with friends, hopping to Hollywood Studios for fireworks and the Great Toy Story Mania Throwdown.

Day Three: January 1, we check out all the monorail resort decorations and the lack of decorations at EPCOT.

Day Four: January 2, before we head home we stop at Magic Kingdom to record the daytime version of the Once Upon A Time Christmas Parade and Princess Tiana's Showboat Jubilee. We also stumble upon the always closed Diamond Horseshoe Saloon.
