Met up with our friend Linda (the one who used to work at Boma’s and relocated from our home state) and her daughter for a day at their local zoo. Brevard zoo has a unique hands-on experience with the wildlife.

We started out climbing a series of long treehouse ramps until we were head high with the giraffes. Fed them some treats and marvelled at the very tall baby giraffes. Then we moved on to the Aviary section to feed the cockateels and parrots some sweet nector. They flew about us like butterflies. And we wrapped up with a visit to the Gator section to see some native Floridian wildlife – fortunately behind some cleverly disguised fences.

The rest of the day was spent sharing some good Italian food and visiting our friend’s house to just hang out and talk in some cool air conditioning. Tomorrow we start the long 1000 mile trip home. It’s been unusually hot here in Florida. High 90’s today and almost as warm at home. I guess this is the payment we get for all those blizzards last Winter. Jump from the cold to the boiling hot.

And so concludes our Spring trek to Disney. This summer our travels take us to the beaches of Maryland and New Jersey. We’re trying a week at Marriott’s Fairway Villas just outside Atlantic City. Never been there before. We hope to check out Wildwood and Cape May as well. Maybe take the Cape May ferry down to Lewes, DE and wind up at our beach place in Ocean City, MD. I did a lot of work last summer to refurb our beach condo into a nice place to live for the summer. Days sitting on the balcony watching the dolphins play in the ocean as I tinker away at my computer… that’s my ideal way to spend the summer. I can’t wait.

Until next time…
